Go Behind the Scenes at a Writers Conference with Author Darlene Panzera
Hi friends!
Have you ever wondered what it’s really like to go to a writers conference?
I recently attended the Southwest Washington Writers Conference in Centralia, Washington — and thought it would be fun to take you along with me in this short video!
From road-tripping with my good friend Jeri Stockdale, checking into the hotel, and grabbing dinner at Applebee’s… to attending keynote speeches, meeting fellow authors, and even winning raffle prizes (woo-hoo! ), it was such a wonderful weekend full of inspiration and connection.

Why I Love Writers Conferences
Every time I go to a writers conference, I come home feeling so refreshed and re-energized about writing. I always learn something new — whether it’s a better way to develop characters, strengthen dialogue, or simply stay motivated.
But the best part? The people.
I got to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and even chat with authors I admire (like the amazing Jane Porter!). It’s such a joy to spend time with people who love stories as much as I do.
These conferences remind me why I started writing in the first place — to create stories filled with heart, hope, and happily-ever-afters.
My Biggest Takeaway
If you’ve ever thought about attending a writers conference, do it! You’ll walk away inspired, encouraged, and ready to chase those writing dreams. Even if you’re just beginning your journey, there’s a place for you at the table — and you might be surprised by how many doors open along the way.
